Hello! Emerging from more than 12 months of radio silence, I have two important updates for you all. First, we are working as fast as we can on a large print run of Best of the Rest! A few weeks ago, we received a production copy from our manufacturing partner.

We are so excited to finally get more copies of this game out into the wild. We are still working out some production issues with the manufacturer. Once those are sorted, we will begin production and will hopefully have copies for sale by the end of the year (fingers crossed) or early next year in the US and the Philippines.

This weekend I will be launching a crowd sale of my two-player tennis card game, Advantage. This game is a small passion project to translate my love of tennis into an accessible head-to-head card game. As someone who enjoys tennis but plays it terribly, it has been a joy to take my obsession and funnel it into something else I love, making card games. My goal was to make a game that was fun for both tennis fanatics AND tennis agnostics, and I think you will agree that Advantage is that game.

Advantage plays in 20-30 minutes, and is a tight hand management, tug-of-war card game. The sale on the Game Crafter website will begin this Sunday, June 28, in celebration of the start of Wimbledon.

What is a Game Crafter Crowd Sale?

The Game Crafter is a US company that makes custom-order board games. And a Crowd Sale is a type of crowdfunding, like Kickstarter, that allows game designers to offer their games at a discounted price during a one-month-long sale. The more people that order a copy during the sale, the lower the price will be for everyone. The initial price for the game will be $34, but that price will go down as the number of orders increases. A Game Crafter Crowd Sale is a way for an indie designer to crowd-fund without the time and expense typically needed for crowdfunding (e.g., arranging marketing, manufacturing, shipping, and warehousing). Unlike other types of crowd funding, when you back a game on the Game Crafter, you know 100% that the game will be made and you will get the game much, much faster (2-3 months vs the typical 1-2 years on Kickstarter).
